    Irish immigrants replaced the Lowell Mill Workers in 1937. The Lowell Mill works had went on strike three years prior due to a depression that caused a sharp decline in wages, and were successful. However, in 1937, there was a true drop in wages, and a strike did not succeed. They were then replaced by the Irish biddies.
