For what reasons were Muslims successful in conquering others?

The muslims had great military leaders such as sultan suleiman and saladin. Their soldiers had great dedication to the cause and conquests in order to spread the faith of islam and believed that if they died martyrs they would be granted a place in heaven. They were well equipped with catapults, strong armour and swords and cavalry, cannons and archers and massive numbers.
