Which is true of European education in the Middle Ages? The feudal lords were responsible for educating the clergy of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church opposed learning and forbade its clergy to read. The clergy of the Catholic Church were usually the only ones educated. The nobility refused to allow the Catholic Church to educate the common people.
