Why might harriat tubman feel like a different person after she crossed the border to a free country

    She was born into slavery and was always observed as property and had no rights at all. When she crossed the border, she would feel like a new person because everyone would treat her as a person and she could live her life freely as she would want. This is not something that she would be able to do in the south so it was a life changing experience.
