How important were the American and French revolutions as a driving force behind the Latin American revolutions?

These were the influence and setting stone for the individuals in both south America and Haiti to revolt against their oppressors and/or fight for individual liberty, if these had not been examples the revolutions in such areas may not have had the spark needed to ignite possibility. They were of utmost importance.
