    A. fishing and shipbuilding

    New England was most suitable to use the resources available for economic gain. Fish and lumber were plentiful.

    Each area of the US has had a distinct economic purpose. New England would become a hub for trade and industry. Fishing and whaling became important for food and many products made from blubber and oils. The forests were a great source of shipbuilding and materials for housing as well.
