What does it mean to "do one's duty for one's country"?

Why is it the duty of a citizen to participate in war?

Should a person be required to participate on a war that she/he does not believe in simply because it is their "duty"?

Does war make a country stronger or weaker? Explain your answer using specific wars and countries.
