Why did industrialization develop rapidly in the northeast

    The northeast didn't have fertile land for farming while the south did. it wouldn't have been as efficient to set up factories on valuable farming land, but in the north that was not an issue. in addition it was easy to ship both raw materials and finished products because of the bodies of water nearby.
