    1) One of the ways in which the Soviet Union tried to hold onto the satellite states in Eastern Europe was by establishing "puppet" governments in these states. A puppet state is a states that seems independent but is in reality ruled by another country.

    2) Trading blocs played a central role in the increace of globalization. It decreased the trade creation and increased the trade diversion. This means that, for example, a German company will produce a whatever item in, for example, China, because the expences are lower.
