How did the Black Death spread from Asia to Europe?

Rats traveled with traders along the Silk Road and carried the fleas to infect people.

Italian traders in Kaffa brought the disease to Europe after the Mongols infected Kaffa.

    Rats traveled with traders along the Silk Road and carried the fleas to infected people.

    Kaffa is in Africa, and no where near the coast. The Mongols were nowhere near Kaffa, so it has to be the first option.
