Both ruled in an absolute monarchy within their own of England and France respectively. However, Louis XIV is far more revered due to his status and prestige as "the Sun King'" while Charles, due to his ineffective leadership, was promptly discarded and substituted for Oliver Cromwell, the Lord Protector. In essence, all absolute monarchs looked to Louis' rule as the paramount of absolute monarchy in Europe while Charles' rule was viewed as ineffective.
