From a lesson I gave to my students

    Peasants, also known as serfs:

Serfs weren’t allowed to leave their land w/o permission Were protected by the lord Men, women, and children worked (farming, cooking, cleaning, taking care of animals, etc ...) Most manors had skilled workers (traded services to peasants for food) Manors had everything you needed to live

    Lords

Lord of the manor controlled everything that happened on his land Collected taxes, resolved conflicts, and punished people Manor lords and ladies lived better than most Manor lords could die in battle or from diseases
