The correct answer is C.

John Brown was known for his strong abolitionist views. During the era of Bleeding Kansas, he actually lead a violent revolt in which several slave owners in Kansas were killed by a group he organized.

Along with this, Brown also organized a raid on a federal arsenal (called John Brown's Raid on Harper's Ferry). His goal was to steal weapons from this arsenal in order to arm slaves for a wide scale revolution. His raid failed and eventually resulted in him being executed for his actions.
