Discuss the major differences between the principles of the federalists and the republicans

    Federalist: supported commerce, the merchant class, and a strong centralized government.

    Republicans: wanted centralized government to be ruled by an elite class, were concerned with the interest of farmers, and operated on the principle that a smaller goverment is a better one.
