    Atticus is a lawyer and a respected member of the community who believes that courts play a vital role in ensuring that all men are created equal. He knows that the justice system is not perfect but to him it is a mark of a civilized society and he will do what he can to improve. He believes man are more good than bad and that everything can progress positively.
