What are some ways the Congress tried to raise money for the Revolution? Why did the decision to print more paper money cause inflation?

The first part I don't really know the answer to, but the second is that when more money is printed it isn't worth as much. So for example if there was a country with only 100 printed bills, those bills would be sought after and would be able to buy almost anything. But if that country then decided to print out millions more bills then they would be more common and as a result would not be wanted as much.
