The struggle for independence in the two countries was strongly influenced by the oppression Africans faced including forced labour as well as racism. Zaire and Angola are located on a mineral belt hence making them a target of colonisation, the countries were exploited because of their wealth while the people were forced to work in the mines and plantations for low-wages.
