How did president mckinley justify keeping the philippines after the spanish american war?

    He believed that the Philippines is not yet ready to govern itself. He believed that the Philippines is a gift from the gods and that he should be able to civilized the backward nation. Aside from that, he doesn’t want the Philippines to fall in the hands of Germans and French men.
