    This is true. The reconstruction era might have been tragic for many, but it also enabled many future progressive ideas to be spread. Without the horrors of reconstruction, who knows when the civil rights fight would begin and how it would be handled if it was left in the hands of those who were in charge during reconstruction. It also created a way for women rights to develop and for their voting rights fight to begin.
