    From 1945 to 62 the number of nations on the earth quadrupled to around 200.

    these nations, emerging from colonailism, were in theory, like the older nations of modernity in the 19th century, countries with ethno-lingusitic-religious cores and funcitoning constitutional institutions. In fact, most weren't. many were agrarian with hope, the elites in a number of these nations embraced a mixed capitalist and democratic regime.
