How is the theme of assimilation treated in the play?

    I think assimilation was treated two ways. The Younger Family welcomed the White culture and discriminated and fear the Black Culture. The family was able to live amongst the White Americans but considered the Black Americans as "low" compared to the Caucasians. The play also emphasizes the philosophy that the Black Americans are happier with their fellow African-Americans.
