Which early president am I?

Political parties were mixed during my election. I was a self-proclaimed Federalist, while my elected vice president was a Republican. As the second president of the United States I was blessed with a relatively uneventful term. My greatest accomplishment was in keeping the U. S. out of a war with France. After the XYZ Affair occurred, many Americans were angry and wanted to declare war, but in 1800, I signed an agreement with France assuring peaceful ocean sailing. Luckily, a war was avoided.

Andrew Jackson

George Washington

James Madison

James Monroe

John Adams

Thomas Jefferson
