The New Deal was a series of federal programs and policies to attempt to resolve the Great Depression in the US. I don't think this program was effective at all. It only gave short-term relief to the problem, and did not end the Great Depression. I mean, there is a reason that Truman replaced this with the Fair Deal during his presidency. Im pretty sure the TVA (Tennessee Authority Valley) is still in effect today. Social Security is a modern program with origins placed in the New Deal.
