Why is asagai able to identify himself so intensely with the future of his country, however it may go?

    Asagai is a Nigerian student who was in love with Beneatha, he was proud of his African Heritage which he teaches Beneatha and, eventually proposes to her.

    Asagai is zealously idealistic about the future of his country, Nigeria by his willingness to sacrifice his own life for the independence of his country, and, Even with western education, Asagai beliefs are based on his African culture which by 1959 was chauvinistic and old fashioned.
