After the American Revolution America adopted a representative democracy form of government. The U. S had no single national legislature to governed as the sole authority due to lack of the unification country, and therefore each State had its own government and constitution, with its own laws i. e. The State could individually decide who to vote.

The government was run as a republic, therefore, there was no monarchy, kings, queens or loyal family. The republic is a representative democracy where the country involves citizens in government through elections of representatives, and election of 'electors' who choose the two executive magistrates, the president, and vice president.
