How did the southern states use the doctrine of nullification to support secession

    It stated that they could void any laws that were deemed unconstitutional. It was created by South Carolina's 1832 Ordinance of Nullification. This ordinance declared, by the power of the state, that the federal tariff were unconstitutional therefore null and avoid within sovereign boundaries of South Carolina.
