What was the main reason for the Armenian Genocide

Well the Armenian genocide has a lot to do with power and religion. Many Armenian people where Christian and many Turkish people where Muslim. This led to many controversy over topics and because Turkey had control over the Armenian people if they did not give up their ways they would be killed or sent to camps. However, in present day turkey it is illegal to discuss the Armenian genocide because they do not believe it was a genocide and deny it.
