How could africans resist the dehumanizing forces of the middle passage and seasoning and use their african cultures to build black cultures in the new world?

Some of the richest and most beautiful art, music, and dancing comes from the African culture. Although the forceful relocation of the African people was horrific, their creative abilities enabled them to make music, sing songs, and keep a part of their home culure alive. This is still very present in modern society.
