The concession that Said Pasha gave to Ferdinand De Lesseps was that the Suez canal would belong to European investors for 99 years, and that in the period the Egyptian regime would be getting 15 percent of the profit and that 80 percent of employees at the canal would be from Egypt.

The concession was oppressive because the khedive ended up paying over half of the construction costs and thus 15% profit was an insult.
