Why did immigrants form ethnic enclaves in cities?

    So that they'd be in a culturally similar area to their home. It was like bringing back a piece of their homeland to their new home. Also, they were by people that they might've known from their old home, and wouldn't have to learn English as quickly as they would if they didn't.
