Why did the Allies agree that elections would be held in Soviet-occupied territories in Eastern Europe after the war?

Stalin insisted on all occupied states being free to choose their leaders in fair elections.

The United States and Britain were worried that the Soviets were planning to take over Eastern Europe.

The Allied leaders knew that the Germans would insist on freedom for Eastern Europe as a condition of their surrender.
