Why did places like harvard support and perform lobotomies?

    Because, despite the scary look and other risks that lobotomy may have, Lobotomy generally had a lot of benefit over open surgery.

    For example, Lobotomy only need smaller incisions, cause less blood loss, make the patient experience less pain, way cheaper cost, and way faster recovery rates.
