    The three main schools of philosophy in ancient China of thought that Upshur describes are Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism.

    Taoism is based on the though of the yin and yang. It stresses on the fact that balance is found in all aspects of life around us.

    Buddhism originated in India and also stresses on the fact of the balance around us. However, it is more concerned with the spiritual aspect of life as well as the afterlife.

    Confucianism is concerned with the fundamentals and morals of building a strong society. It emphasizes on the morals of respecting the elderly, being just and fair and obeying those in charge.
