    I'd say D, just because the Europeans "heavily" imposed their religion and characteristics on the middle east. The middle easterners? were probably not happy with it, and tried to get rid of the European influence. Also, a big hint is that a war was going on, so, since A, B, and C are all positive, thy are probably not true.
