How did the national farmers' alliance and the people's party attempt to resolve the problems faced by farmers?

    They wanted to end the crop lien system, which was another name for the sharecropping system, where tenant workers worked land they did not own in exchange for the rights to live there and a small portion of the profits. The owner, however, made the majority of the money.
