    No, it was not. The main reason the U. S. joined the war was to stop the spread of communism, however, they did not achieve that because the Communist North won. Furthermore, it caused tension within the country, and our beloved nationalism was not there. It caused outrage and many protests. The people of the U. S. became tired of the loss of people and many began to see our government as weak.
