What did the opium war and the boxer rebellion have in common? resentment of foreigners contributed to both. in both, hong xiuquan led the chinese forces. both were uprisings against the rule of dowager empress cixi. both were fought only against great britain?

    Only the opium war was fought against Great Britain the boxer rebellion however was a group of Chinese men who taught themselves how to fight against their British occupants without weapons. But the boxer rebellion was defeat by China. So no only the opium war was an official war between China and Great Britain.
