Which eminent confucian defeated the taiping forces in 1864?

Zeng Guofan was a Chinese statesman, Confucian scholar, and a military general of the late Qing dynasty. He raised and organized the Xiang army that aided the Qing military to suppress the Taipping Rebellion and restored the stability of Qings empire.
