As Europeans gambled and fought for choice colonies in the Americas, the Native Americans played along for survival of their tribes and territories. Note that there are several Native American tribes and nations in the region and also fought against each other. During the French and Indian War, many tribes sided with the French and so the young George Washington (as a British subject) have had skirmishes with the French and Indians.
