How did many free african americans living in northeastern united states become slaves during the federalist period?

    Many free African-Americans living in Northeastern United States became slaves during the Federalist period. They became slaves when they are either kidnapped or sold to their traffickers. Their traffickers, then, sells them for money and the slaves are forced to work for their owners.
