The correct answer is A. It allowed the president to act in Vietnam as he saw fit.

The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution gave President Lyndon B. Johnson almost unchecked military power for the Vietnam War. This power would then be passed on to Richard Nixon when he became president. Ultimately, this power would be limited after the Vietnam War as Congress saw the flaw in the Golf of Tonkin Resolution. This resulted in the creation of the War Powers Act.
