North America has been moving northward from the equator for most of the last 200 million years.

Scientists predict that This happen due to the occurrence called the continental drift, a movement of tectonic plates that caused the land on top of it started to move apart from one another that popularized by Alfred Wegner in 1912

The answer is the two continents moved in completely opposite ways going northwest and southeast. North America has been touching north from Africa during that era in time, it has from the time when been moving in a more westerly direction.

North America has been moving northward for furthermost of the previous 200 million years. 200 million years ago northeastern North America was much warmer and rather drier than it is now.
