Were the texas servant girl murders the work of the first serial killer?

    He wasn't the first serial killer but was the first one that became known in the papers and was theatrical about it. A story was made and he did kill people before Jack the Ripper, so the story was of course new and important to people who liked the way the media approached it. There were serial killers before of course, but they weren't so important.
