How did the founder of the jains, mahavira, die?

The founder of Jains, Mahavira died at the age of 72. He attained omniscience under Sala tree on the banks of a river. The tradition believes his death occurred in 527 BC. His soul believed in all jain traditions to be abode of the liberated souls.
