Why were many explorers eager to explore the world despite the dangers

    They wanted because they could become nobles and acquire riches. If they discovered something new they would become wealthy from both the origin country which would pay them, and from the thing they found that they could sell. If they found land they could take the land as a colony and become nobles in a new world where there were no nobles.
