What did native Americans have to gain by participating in imperial wars?

They wanted to gain land and items as gifts. They made alliances with both sides and got things like weapons and equipment but they could later use them to attack settlements and take their land. They were pretending to be neutral but were actually looking out for themselves sticking to the winning side.
