Europeans insisted on the growth of cash crops, such as cotton. Farms were owned by the Europeans who insisted the Africans farmers to grow cash crops like cotton and forced to stop growing edible crops. Many Africans would pushed off their land to build large farms for exporting crops. This results to low food supplies for the locals and more money for the Europeans.
