In what ways were the charter colonies more democratic than either the royal or proprietary colonies

There were three kind of English colonies established in North America in 17th century.

Charter Colony, Proprietary Colony and Royal Colony. The difference was that in the charter colony the people used to elect the representatives. Rhodes Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts Bay were charter colonies.
