How are the Umayyads and Abbasids similar? And how are they different?

    I think their reigns we're different and the techniques of governing we're also different

    Both of these empires were Islamic, both were the same branch of Islam (Sunni Islam). Some differences are their capitals, their influences, the time periods they existed in, the way they ruled (Umayyads were more about military force while Abbasids were more about openness and knowledge), etc.
