MLK Jr. was respected and well spoken with the ability to get his message publicized through television. His non-violent approach sat well with white America making it easier for him to gain support from the wider nation.

MKL Jr was respected due to his position as an educated pastor speaking of Christian values at a time of religious revival during the Cold War.

He used non-violent techniques such as boycotting, sit-ins, and marches. In addition, his ability to speak well and get a message of peace and equality across appealed to a wide range of Americans.
